When Little K was around four months old I came up with the idea of a ‘Mummy Win’. It was a little pat on the back to myself when something went right. I felt like I was drowning a lot of the time, and just needed to acknowledge that it was all OK, and in amongst all the crazy, we were heading in the right direction!
Sometimes it was the big things; she slept through the night, she managed to self-settle and other times it was much smaller; I have brushed my hair and my teeth and it is before noon! Ah, the joys of early motherhood.
This has grown with her and is now more like; she didn’t hit me today, or she didn’t say ‘No’ to every food I offered her. She’s really not a bad kid, but it is so easy to focus on the difficult moments and forget to enjoy the little things.
This morning, our win was that she woke up slightly earlier than normal (usually, I’d be cursing not having a lie in!) but today it meant that we had time to snuggle on the sofa and have a little playtime before having to get ready for nursery and work. Quality time before 7am. My Mummy Win.
What was your ‘Win’ today?
This is so true for me right now. Today’s ‘mummy win’ for me is; it took me 25 minutes to get Ollie to sleep rather than the 2 hours it’s taken me for the last 4 days….the joys (and pain) of silent reflux!

Glad to hear it’s getting better! Thankfully reflux was something we never suffered with!
